	<Abstract>Agricultural pesticides are frequently utilized to boost crop production but can seep into nearby water sources, resulting in the pollution of aquatic ecosystems. This review examines the different ways in which pesticides enter rivers, such as through runoff and drainage. These substances can modify the physicochemical characteristics of rivers, disrupt aquatic organisms, leading to decreased biodiversity, changes in species composition, and negatively affecting reproductive success in fish and invertebrates. Additionally, pesticides can alter the composition of species and harm the reproduction of aquatic creatures, while consuming fish and other aquatic organisms contaminated with these substances poses detrimental effects on human health. This review emphasizes the need for improved monitoring strategies, the implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) practices, and stricter regulations to mitigate pesticide runoff and safeguard river ecosystems.</Abstract>
