Monthly sampling was carried out at three sampling stations (i.e. sampling station 1 - J auljibi, 600msl; Sampling station 2 - Baram 900msl and sampling station 3 - Madkot 1300msl). The results and observations of the present study reveals that apart from being glacial fed, Goriganga river harbours colourful ichthyo - fauna. Some 20 (Twenty) indige nous fish species belonging to twelve genera (Schizothorax, Tor, Barilius, Labeo, Punctius, Garra, Nemacheilus, Pseudecheneis, Glyptosternum, Homaloptera, Barbus and Mastacembelus) and five families (Cyprinidae, Botinae, Sisoridae, Homalopteridae and Masta cembelidae) were identified in the collection. The family Cyprinidae was dominant with 13(65%) fish species followed by Botinae with 3 (15%) species, Sisoridae with 2(10%) species and Homalopteridae and Mastacembelidae with 01(5%) species each. College, Jhabua, MP, INDIA<#LINE#>6/3/2014<#LINE#>5/4/2014<#LINE#>Phytoplankton which are prese nt in a variety of aquatic habitats were studied with respect to their species taken for one complete year (2011 - 2012).The present study was carried out on Narmada river situated in west Nimar of Madhya Pradesh. The plankton were collected, counted and ide ntified by using the method suggested by APHA (1985),Prescott (1969) and fresh water biology. Different class such as Chlorophyceae, Cynophyceae, Tebouxiophyceae, Ulvophyceae and Zygnematophyceae were identified. Ten species of phytoplankton have been coll ected from various freshwater habitats in the West Nimar. Out of 10 genera Cynophyceae (4),Charophyceae (3), Trebouxiophyceae (1), Ulvophyceae (1) and Zygnematophyceae (1).The study among all these phytoplankton Cynophyceae were recorded as a dominant clas s in Narmada river. The study was carried out monthly but was tabulated seasonally by using statical method. Road, Kolkata- 700019, INDIA<#LINE#>24/3/2014<#LINE#>10/4/2014<#LINE#>Three experimental feeds were formulat ed by reducing fishmeal at a level of 5%, incorporated with selected ingredients like green seaweed, Enteromorpha intestinalis (referred as ENT feed); salt - marsh grass, Porteresia coarctata (referred as POT feed) and mangrove litter (referred as ML feed). Juvenile prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii were exposed to the feeds of floral origin during the experimental trial and performances were evaluated in terms of growth characteristics and muscle protein content. Incorporation of E. intestinalis in the formu lated feed resulted in significantly higher (p.01) average body weight (80.48 gm), condition factor (1.30), specific growth rate (1.45% day - 1 ), feed conversion ratio (1.76) and survival (68.19%) as confirmed through ANOVA. Length - weight relationship vari ed significantly (p.01) thus exhibiting isometric growth (b= 3.008) in prawns treated with ENT feed as compared to others where allometric growth pattern was observed. Muscle protein content also reflected similar pattern with significantly greater (p 0.01) in the group of prawns treated with ENT feed.
