Abstract

Nanocrystalline Mg0.2Cd0.8Al2O4 has been successfully synthesized by co precipitation method. The materials were investigated for structural properties by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Scanning electron microscopy with dispersive analysis (SEM-EDAX). LPG sensing properties of Mg0.2Cd0.8Al2O4 were investigated at room temperature. Further the sensor was observed selective at an optimal operating temperature (338 K). The sensor was found to be stable and repeatable with good response and recovery time. The gas sensing mechanism of Mg0.2Cd0.8Al2O4 has been discussed elaborately.
