Abstract

This study reports the annual and seasonal changes in water quality of two reservoirs inundated with Narmada river water in Vadodara district, Gujarat, India. Surface water samples were collected on seasonal basis from February 2009 to January 2011 and were analyzed for 15 water quality parameters. Most significant parameters which contributed in annual and seasonal variations were assessed by Principal Components/Factor Analysis (PCA/FA) which identified three factors with86.11% and 80.56% of the total variance of the sampled data at TIR and JIR respectively. Results of this study demonstrate that the water quality of wetlands has a direct and close association with the surrounding environment.
