Abstract

In this study, the effects of different doses of Ti02 (E171) on the mucosa cells of small intestine, orally administered to Swiss albino mice (Mus musculus domesticus) have been investigated. After administration of Ti02 to mice, the changes occurred in the organelles such as nucleus, mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. The most prominent changes in the mucosal cells were dilation in the endoplasmic reticulum, nuclear space formation and disappeared matrix and cristae in mitochondria. Furthermore, lipid droplets were found in cytoplasm.
